In the last 60 years the role of women within the workforce has changed dramatically. Women now have more opportunities within the workplace than ever before. With that said, some companies have not yet given women the opportunity to thrive in their environments.

Therefore here is a list of some of the top companies to work for as a woman in Canada:

Abbvie is a company working towards a solution to and promoting awareness for uterine fibroids. This is a condition that causes painful periods as well as a handful of other symptoms. Their mission is focused on “Create(ing) an innovation-driven, patient-focused specialty biopharmaceutical company capable of achieving sustainable top-tier performance through outstanding execution and a consistent stream of innovative new medicines.” -

Intunit Canada’s core values center around respect. “Intuit is committed to creating an inclusive environment where women bring their unique talents, experiences and perspectives to work every day”- They have worked on their female inclusion by creating a network that is comprised of over 500 men and woman.

The tech industry is notorious for its lack of female representation. “Only 5% of Canadian tech companies have a female CEO, only 5% of Canadian tech companies have a female founder, and 73% of tech company boards have no women at all” - . Yet companies such as Ceridian are trying to change the stereotype. Ceridian is focused on working towards getting women into leadership positions. Kristina Cleary, the head of global marketing at Ceridian, has created the hashtag “Move the Dial” to bring attention to increasing participation and advancement of women in technology.

With 70% of the executives being made of women, Proof Experiences provides a diverse work environment. President of the company, Lisa Barrans has said: "It continues to have women in key leadership roles with a focus on creating a vibrant culture that values every employee."- This marketing firm is breaking down walls for executives.

Capital One has been named “Top Company for Executive Women and one of the Best Places to Work for LGBT and Disability Inclusion”. Their focus on inclusion and diversity has lead to women being in positions of leadership within their organization such as Julie Elberfeld, who is Senior Vice President of Shared Technology at Capital One.-;
